The Annex Teen
Medical Clinic, Fairview
Recovery Services, Robbinsdale Area Redesign and
Family & Children's Service will be key partners in
coordinating a multi-disciplinary team that will connect
youth with mental and physical health needs to the
necessary services. A key part of connecting youth with
the services is the Youth Connections program. Youth
Connections will provide screenings and wraparound
services to youth and their families within the Mosaic.
When the Mosaic's permanent home opens, the partner
organizations will either co-locate or provide services
from the center.
Having clinical space co-located in the youth center
will help encourage a preventive rather than curative approach
to health and wellness. Youth have special health care
needs, such as physical examinations for athletic
participation and immunizations required by schools. With
a high number of youth unable to access health care
services,
co-locating a clinical space in the Mosaic's permanent
home could help to increase the overall health of
youth in the community. Preventive health services are
far less expensive than the curative services that are
needed when problems are allowed to progress unchecked.
